To hear an mp3 audio sample click on "mono" (faster download- recommended for dial-up) or "stereo" (broadband). Listening with headphones is recommended.

Forks!!! (1995), Computer, 4:19

Comments: Written at the Indiana University Computer Music Lab, Forks!!! gets its name from one its the basic samples-30 pieces of cutlery dropped on the concrete floor of a very resonant hall of the Music Arts Center. Other samples include the lab's squeaky door, which mutated into very nice whale songs.

CMG Remix (2005), Computer and 5.1 sound sources, 5:52

Comments: Written jointly with Pete Schmutte as an occasion piece to be performed with the work of guest composer Perry Goldstein (see the Contemporary Music Group listing for March 23, 2005). Material from other pieces on the concert was sampled and freely blended. A continuous flute gliss from D to Bb and "speakflute" was appropriated from a George Crumb piece, as were excerpts from Perry's saxophone music. In concert, five sound sources and a sub-woofer were used, in the four corners and the ceiling, thus spacial effects (e. g., 360 degree panning) were a primary feature. The surround sound was created by six separate ADAT tracks.
